TL Member Rubin Sinins Retained in Rutgers Suicide Case

SPRINGFIELD, NJ, Jan. 19, 2011 – (TLC News) — Rubin Sinins, partner at Javerbaum Wurgaft Hicks Kahn Wikstrom & Sinins, PC., represents one of the defendants in the September 2010 privacy-invasion case in which a Rutgers University freshman committed suicide after his tryst was recorded by a roommate.

In the incident, 18-year-old Tyler Clementi jumped off the George Washington Bridge, after his roommate, Dharun Ravi, secretly recorded Clementi and another male student kissing in a dorm room.  Sinins is representing Molly Wei, who along with Ravi was charged with privacy invasion.  The incident triggered worldwide reaction, particularly among gay rights groups.

Notably, since the incident and subsequent filing of charges, prosecutors have brought no other charges against the students.

Sinins, 41, was inducted into The Ten Leaders of Criminal Defense Law of New Jersey in 2010.

Sinins in January 2011 declined to comment on the progress of the case.
